Assisted Sail Trim
When the sails adjust themselves…
The AST – Assited Sail Trim – was conceived and developed by Harken in collaboration with Jeanneau. It is a sailing aid system that automatically adjusts the sails according to the direction of the boat or the wind, or in relation to the skidding of the boat. In short, after the pilot, here is also the automatic tailer.
The system consists of three different modules that can be installed separately from the shipyard and designed to make sailing even more relaxing thanks to the remote control of the sails.
The basic module Auto Tacking manages the bow sail during tacking while the helmsman makes the boat change tack. A system of sensors detects the apparent wind speed to activate the system in complete safety.
The Auto Trim module is the perfect complement to the Auto Tacking module allowing you to get a real easy cruising experience. Simply adjust the sails initially, operate the Auto Trim control and let the system take care of the subsequent adjustments. The system monitors the apparent wind direction and adjusts the sails accordingly while you relax at the helm. An integrated heeling control detects gusts and limits the heeling to the maximum value you set for comfort on board.
The Sail Management module allows you to hoist and lower the sails. Load sensors detect any blockages during the manoeuvre allowing you to leave the halyards to solve the problem.
All functions and manoeuvres are controlled through a central console. The Harken Rewind or Captive Reel winches allow the system to let go and haul without manual intervention, for safety reasons there is in any case a special backup system in case of problems due to the power supply.
