By adopting foils, the ClubSwan 36 brings the fun and excitement of dinghy and keelboat racing, while offering a direct entry into one of the yachting world’s most coveted clubs. The innovative design boasts a flush deck, an open cockpit and retractable bowsprit, a beveled bow and a transverse sliding C-foil. The carbon rigging of this boat offers numerous opportunities for tuning while racing this innovative entry-level sports boat.

The fortunes of Nautor’s Swan yachts began in 1967 with a 36-footer, one of the first yachts built of fiberglass. When the Swan 36 arrived on the scene, a new benchmark was set. After 52 years of the same enthusiasm and belief in innovation, these are still the basic ingredients for the creation of a new sailboat: the ClubSwan 36.

ClubSwan 36 – Blanket

The ClubSwan 36 is a Swan yacht featuring a modern deck layout, the design comes from the evolution of a concept, tested with various scale models, the shape is clean with well-defined ergonomics. The design is based on how the deck will be used: everything superfluous has been eliminated, adding only what is necessary for efficient crew positioning and how the crew moves together. The bridge is equipped with seven Harken winches, two for the flywheels, two for the mainsail and two for the jibs, the seventh is centrally located and is used to control the C-board, halyards and other lines.

Functionality is key when placing winches in the right place at the correct angle in order to achieve the best efficiency and performance. Similar to a dinghy, all “cleats” for the deflector, cunningham and vang are located on both sides of the yacht to be easily accessible from the mainsail trimmer. The current rigging is covered by two removable panels, which are lightweight and strong thanks to some unidirectional reinforcements. The panel on the foredeck covers the retractable bowsprit and retriever circuit, while the second casing aft of the mast covers all other circuits and the chokes that replace the stoppers. The main idea of the removable panels stems from the desire to have a clean deck and to keep most of the controls on the outside of the boat, leaving a drier interior; providing the traditional Nautor’s Swan safety philosophy while having easy access for maintenance.

Interior

The ClubSwan 36 is a sailboat fully optimized for performance and in fact has no interior as in the Swan tradition, but is considered a “Protected Shelter.” The Protected Shelter is a dry space to rest between races or during longer transfers. Most of the controls on this Nautor yacht are outside without intrusion, including the bowsprit that lies inside a structural eaves covered by a panel.

Accessing the boat’s interior through a sliding hatchway, one can see the bulkheads and longitudinal structure made with unidirectional reinforcements. Carbon is used on some covers to increase stiffness. The bulkheads in front of the rudders are watertight to ensure greater safety at sea. All interior components are of lightweight construction, and removable bunks can be made occasionally. The engine is centrally located under the cockpit. Access is through a bulkhead aft of the cabin and from the sides.
