Il Dufour Catamaran 48 è progettato per Dufour. It is the progenitor of what will be a new strand for the French shipyard. There are many distinctive features of this new design that maintain a clear link with the rest of Dufour’s production, which to date has centered exclusively on monohulls.
Exteriors
The issue of communication between the various areas of the vessel was, once again, the focus of the design and led to many certainly innovative solutions. The large outdoor cockpit covered by the fly and positioned at the same level as the indoor living room and kitchen are defining elements. The fly also takes on a new dimension; not only as a place to command the boat and a space dedicated to sunbathing, but also that, unprecedented for this size, of a raised lounge to enjoy special moments of relaxation in total privacy.
The sail plan, simple and effective, fully espouses what are the current trends, with a reefed mast and large self-tacking rolling genoa. The hulls, characterized by lines heads and inverted bows, were finalized through advanced CFD software in order to optimize their strength and thus their speed under sail and power. Stylistically, both inside and out, we tried to give the usual clean lines and form. In this sense while not interfering in the complexity of functions that this catamaran will have to fulfill.
Dufour Catamaran 48 – Interior
The interiors of the Dufour Catamaran 48 are designed with some possible variations in order to please both a shipowner and charter user base. The number of cabins varies in the two versions, as does the degree of finishing and accessorizing. In both, however, there remains Dufour’s unmistakable style, both in attention to detail and to detail. In the owner version, the starboard hull of the Dufour Catamaran 48 is entirely dedicated to the owner. It presents a layout and finish of the highest quality.
The Dufour Catamaran 48 Charter version, on the other hand, features many very practical solutions, including, for example, a large technical and stowage area to enable professional management of the boat. In both versions, the forward cabin, which is independent and dedicated to the crew, makes all kinds of situations easier.
