ecoprimus by Northern Light Composites

Northern Light Composites’ first eco-sustainable boat project is called ecoprimus

This small boat, designed in 2016 by Hungarian designer David Bereczki, was designed for sailing schools and for young sailors’ first steps in racing. It has been defined Optimist 2.0 because it reinterprets in modern way the concept of the most widespread dinghy the kids,: it is slightly longer, with a rounded bow and modern shapes, as well as being self-draining.

Ecoprimus is built with natural fibres, a recycled PET core and a thermoplastic resin that guarantees the recovery of the product at the end of its life: nlcomp, in fact, guarantees that the product will be regenerated at the end of its life for the construction of non-structural parts.

In addition to the choice of eco-sustainable building materials, the ecoprimus construction process was also designed to respect the health of workers: it was therefore decided to make the composite in vacuum infusion and to avoid all painting activities, using skins for external cladding.
