Lagoon 51 – 15-meter sailing catamaran
On the new cruising catamaran Lagoon has increased attention to outdoor spaces, particularly in two places, the fly bridge and in the area in front of the deckhouse. The 50 on the Fly had only a sundeck area, which on the 51 becomes a real living area with table and seating.
Same thing in front of the deckhouse, where before there were only two seats we now find almost a mini cockpit, while keeping the front net in place. Right on the fly bridge may also be placed a battery of solar panels that will contribute energy for on-board services.
The choices made by the shipyard have a logic that also meets the charter market, which can see several needs met on such a boat: comfort, privacy with multiple outdoor living areas and multi solutions for interior layouts, and ease of operation.
Maneuvers are deferred on the flybride, and the cat is equipped with a square top mainsail and a smaller jib to have a sail plan that is not too complex to manage, with the possibility of also rigging a Code Zero or similar sails.
For the interiors, enhanced by the natural light from the glazed deckhouse, there is the signature of Nauta Design’s archi-stars, who took advantage of the cat’s large volumes by meeting different layout requirements.
In the salon, the view is continuous thanks to the mast coaming at the bow of the saloon. The great brightness, created by the 360-degree vertical windows and the new “Alps sand oak” wood trim, accentuate this feeling of space. The volumes are impressive and feature practical solutions to increase comfort. For example, the owner’s cabin benefits from this layout optimization; in fact, in the standard version, it benefits from a large walk-in closet.
