Nordship 40 DS by SailPassion

The Nordship 40 DS is the best-selling boat in the Nordship range. She is the ideal choice for those who want to spend long periods of time on board, cruising. We have increased the fuel tank and storage well beyond the size of a yacht of this size, while the modern hull design and powerful sail plan give her an extra edge.

A Nordship yacht can also be structurally built to your requirements, perhaps using a Divinycell foam core in the hull to save weight and improve strength. Our semi-custom range gives owners the freedom to be deeply involved in the design of their yacht, so before the gelcoat touches the mould you know you have the right boat for you. Whichever yacht you choose, it will be built with a level of passion and craftsmanship that few other shipyards can match.

Nordship 40 DS

The Nordship 40 DS, like all Nordships yachts, is designed around the wheelhouse so that the helmsman has all the ropes and sail controls within easy reach. With this arrangement, when you are at the helm you can adjust all the ropes, even the furthest one.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that our yachts are built first and foremost for comfort on board, using high quality materials: in the same way they are designed to sail smoothly.

Thanks to their set-up, with an adequate sail area and a gently balanced hull shape that is easily manoeuvred thanks to a lead bulb keel, all Nordship yachts and in particular the Nordship 40 DS are agile and rewarding for those who like to sail at speed. Nordship also makes sailing easier and more enjoyable by fitting the boats with a standard self-centering jib. This integrates perfectly with modern, up-to-date equipment, keeping loads easily manageable whether you’re on deck alone or sailing with a crew.

Nordship 40 DS – Interiors

The Nordship 40 DS offers her owners generous volume and space to customize the interior. The aft cabin is spacious and well appointed, with considerable headroom above the large double berth. There is an en-suite bathroom and shower compartment, although that same space could be dedicated to additional cabin storage.

The deck saloon gives a feeling of spaciousness and openness, so that when the yacht is sailing, anyone relaxing around the large saloon table can enjoy a great view while staying warm, dry and sheltered. A third guest cabin is available below the saloon on the deck. Our raised saloon is at the heart of all our yachts. The large sunroof windows give those inside an excellent view out, in any direction and in any weather.

Whether you want to shelter from the sun or seek refuge during a winter sail, the Nordship 40 DS’s dinette is a wonderful space in which to relax. Whether you are sailing or in harbour, the aft cabin has a remarkable amount of living space for the size of this yacht. Unlike most other shipyards, we don’t try to cram accommodation for four people under the cockpit. Instead, we offer the owner space and privacy away from the rest of the crew, with a private bathroom and shower compartment available on most models.

The interiors are an area of excellence not only because they are handcrafted by experienced Danish craftsmen, but also because we can customize them to suit individual preferences: the owner can choose the layout, the wood finishes, the style of furniture. It is also possible to incorporate your ideas into one of our suggested layouts, or to have the interior modified to suit you.

Nordship 40 DS – On deck

On deck, the cockpit design is practical and safe, allowing the helmsman to control all the ropes and winches without the crew locking the aft cockpit, which has a high screen and well rounded corners, making it a comfortable place to relax both when moored and sailing.
