Swan 120

Nautor’s Swan is pleased to introduce the new Swan 120 to the world. The latest in a long line of performance cruising superyachts bearing her name, she is in every way a true Swan. Flawlessly combining performance, elegance and pleasure, the Swan 120 is sure to become a benchmark in the sailing world.

The Swan 120 brings together the skill and craftsmanship of three distinct groups, all recognized in their individual fields, working together, collaboratively, to create a masterful interpretation of the modern superyacht. Offering unparalleled comfort, unique safety conditions and level of reliability, the Swan 120 raises global standrd for this size of yacht to new heights.

The naval architecture for the inspiring project came from the Buenos Aires office of master architect Germán Frers, a house designer in Nautor’s Swan since the early 1980s. An original and influential element of the long-standing collaboration between Argentine flair and Finnish constructive creativity is the contribution of Genoese architect Misa Poggi to interior design. Featuring state-of-the-art construction techniques and materials, along with a range of innovative solutions, the Swan 120 is aimed at defining the next generation of performance superyacht design.

Swan 120 – Exterior

The shape of the Swan 120 reflects the elegance and style that Frers brings to all of its yachts, particularly the Swans, where the lines are instantly recognizable and stand out in every harbor and ocean.

From the stunning bow, with Germán Frers’ typical sheer line, the hull lines extend gently to the stern. From about midway, the hull profile lengthens to a powerful and vigorous stern above the waterline. The hull design brings almost the entire maximum width to the stern, a concept that provides excellent form stability when the boat is heeled while creating generous volume underneath.

At deck level, the forward area leads aft to the harmonious “raised saloon” deckhouse wing, which blends seamlessly with the large and protected cockpit area. This central element is completely free of edges, allowing those who are not engaged in navigating this sublime superyacht to truly relax while sailing. The design conceals a sophisticated bimini top and and an electrically operated sprayhood that, when not in use, disappears in recess of the completely flush deckhouse, providing ample shelter from the sea and sun when up.

At anchor, the cockpit area transforms into a large lounge space. With versatile deck sofas, it is the perfect place to relax at sunset before transforming into an elegant and intimate dining area. Following the philosophy of other Maxi Swanline designs, the Swan 120 also offers ‘side seats’ to enhance both the sailing experience and leisure use.

Swan 120 navigation

Aft of the open-air salon is a clean, always sheltered deck space that runs behind the steering columns with ‘aero-seats.’ Among the wheelhouse stations, a “cozy island” can be incorporated, providing protected access to the aft accommodation with a dodger, splash guard, and cozy seats for those on watch.

The voluminous stern section will attract attention when the yacht is at rest. The transom folds hydraulically to form a teak-lined swim platform and reveals a spacious garage that accommodates a 4.5-meter tender and other toys of your choice. Once the tender is launched, the large area becomes available for water sports, sunbathing and even dining. The Swan 120’s efficient under sail stern design transforms when the boat is at anchor into a large “beach deck,” connected to a well-organized “hangar” for maximum fun when stationary. In addition to the fold-down aft platform, a section of the aft deck can be opened to become a large sundeck at deck level.

The hull and deck of the Swan 120 will be constructed of carbon fiber, using SPRINT® epoxy pre-preg carbon fiber inner and outer skins on a Corecell grade M foam core. The pre-preg system provides the ultimate in structural strength and stiffness while ensuring the lightest possible weight, while ensuring absolute structural integrity. The hull will be laid in a female mold made with the same technology, thus ensuring identical mechanical properties when the hull is baked using the latest technology furnace.

The yacht will be built at Nautor’s Swan’s state-of-the-art superyacht facility in Pietarsaari, Finland. State-of-the-art materials, advanced construction techniques and the finest craftsmanship, for which Nautor’s Swan is world renowned, will be employed.

Interior

Inside this elegant hull is an interior designed by architect Misa Poggi. Two main interior layouts were designed: Owner Aft and Owner Forward. Both Owner cabin configurations offer three exceptional guest cabins, each with private baths. Misa developed a refined theme specifically for the Swan 120 project, with the finest Italian fabrics and leathers to create the most comfortable and luxurious environment for both the owner and the family and guests.

The spacious salon is accessed from the deck through a magnificent 1.8-meter-wide companionway door, constructed of curved glass to maximize ease of access and natural light below. Both fully furnished, full-beam master suite options feature Misa Poggi’s elegant design, with private bathrooms and the option of a walk-in closet.

In addition to the master cabin, there are three ensuite guest cabins, one double and two twin, as well as three twin crew cabins, also ensuite. In both layouts, for privacy, the galley and laundry are located near the crew quarters and provide everything needed for impeccable service of the Owner and guests.

In the center of the yacht, flooded with natural light from the deckhouse above, is a large salon, with a lounge area to port and a dining room to starboard.

The salon layout option is unique, with a large hull window adjacent to the ‘daybeds’. This cozily furnished space is perfect when you are sailing or just before nightfall. The proximity of the hull to the water provides a sea experience in line with Misa’s philosophy for interiors. It has been commented that these ‘saloon beds’ are reminiscent of the guard shift bunks typically found on Swan yachts of the 1970s.

Navigation

The Swan 120 comes with a full specification as standard, but there is an extensive list of options to ensure that each yacht reflects the Owner’s unique interests and style. Three sail plan configurations reflect the diversity of approach to the sport of sailing so as to satisfy every choice of sailing type of the owner. To take advantage of the Swan 120 for world exploits in racing or to focus on exploring the Mediterranean, Caribbean or Pacific.

In addition to sail plan considerations, Nautor’s Swan also thought about submerged appendages. Chief among these is the telescopic keel option, which reduces the draft from 5.5 to 3.5 meters. In combination with standard twin rudders, this keel option opens up the world of pristine roadsteads, picturesque harbors, and remote wilderness anchorages without compromising sailing performance. As expected, the system design is optimized for safety and reliability without any intrusion inside the boat.

Swan 120 upwind

Anchoring for a boat of this size is critical equipment, and design thinking has ensured that the Swan 120 has a suitable system. The anchor is launched and retrieved by means of a retractable and folding hydraulic arm, using a design that has proven its reliability and ease of use for many years. The Swan 120 is designed to enable worldwide sailing without compromise. Advanced sail handling systems are complemented by abundant stowage that includes a spacious fore sail locker and two aft. It also has a generous tank for both water and fuel, all of which can be easily inspected. Below the elevated salon is a full-beam engine room that provides excellent access to its 450-hp main engine, two generators, and other electrical and hydraulic systems.

For those who want to race, there is a complete racing package that includes a square top with flying shrouds; a double-length bowsprit with bobstay to use powerful gennakers at the masthead; and even the option to integrate a retractable anchor system.
