Y9 Y Yachts

Description

Y9 Y Yachts, the concept

The new flagship of the Y9 Y Yachts shipyard, was born from the ambitious idea of building a masterpiece of lightweight craftsmanship following the company’s philosophy of reducing sailing to the essentials and meeting all customer needs.

Y Yachts founder Michael Schmidt has no doubts: “With its 90-foot length, the yacht has an attractive rating and is definitely capable of winning in regattas such as the St. Barths Bucket, the Superyacht Cup or the Maxi Rolex Cup.”

According to Schmidt, several comparisons with shipowners were decisive in the development of the Y9: “Actually, customers were interested in the 100-foot length. However, from this size up – in my experience – yachts become disproportionately expensive because many components necessarily have to be custom-built. Therefore, with our experience, we have brought the comfort of a 100-foot yacht to a 90-foot length. With our new Y9 we are entering the super yacht segment.”

Y9 Y Yachts, “happy crew, happy owner”

The Y9 Y Yachts generates incomparable volume with its tender garage arranged transversely aft and even has a separate owner’s apartment consisting of a private salon, a dressing room, a bedroom, and a bathroom with a double sink and separate shower. Maximum privacy is guaranteed, which the owner can enjoy with family or close friends.

Great importance was also placed on the design of the crew area. As it is an unwritten law in yachting “Happy crew, happy owner,” the crew cabins on the Y9 Y Yachts are designed extra large, with well thought-out stowage space and an additional crew room. The captain’s cabin can be turned into a lounge during the day, for example – rooms on the Y9 do not have to have a single predefined purpose.

Following this concept, the two interior layout options can be customized with the design department ofY Yachts to meet all customer desires and to preserve the boat’s exclusive style.

The interior of the Y9 Y Yachts was developed jointly by two design studios. Norm Architects of Copenhagen and Design Unlimited of Lymington combined their architectural and yachting expertise and created a sleek Scandinavian look for the Y9 that follows the principle of “soft minimalism”-textiles and oiled oak and gray panels determine the color palette. Katrine Goldstein, managing director of Norm Architects, says, “The Y9 already follows the award-winning Y7 in its design, but it is much more complex and goes deeper.

The Y9 Y Yachts will also be a luxurious retreat to get away from the constant stimulation that our daily lives bring. Adds Mark Tucker, founder of Design Unlimited: “Customers will appreciate the authenticity of our design and the sustainable materials we recommend. People are increasingly turning to nature: take from nature and give back to nature. This principle is particularly pervasive in the luxury market.”

The first Y9 is already under construction and will be launched in the near future, expanding the shipyard’s series and becoming the “big sister” of the YYachts family.
